The rally is non-spectator, so the only way to get up close to the action if you’re not in a rally car is to be a marshall – more details here!
Marshalls provide a valuable service on a rally, performing duties from incident control to timing and service area organisation. The organising club and the competitors rely on a team of willing volunteers to ensure the smooth running of a rally.
If you’re free on the 5th of July then please, please do come and support the team, and help out the rest of the competitors by turning up to marshall. Here are all the details you’ll need, hot off the press:
“Marshals need to sign on at the entrance to the venue at 001560 on Map 106. The entrance is signposted 'Driffield Training Area' off the A614, and if you use a SatNav, the nearest postcode is YO25 9LH. Signing on is from 7:30am to 8am. Note that spectators are not allowed, so if you want to watch you will have to marshal. The Chief Marshal is Mark Edwards, mark@bdmc.org.uk, who'd be delighted to hear from you if you'd like to help. Mark can also be contacted on 07813 182123. If you can't get in touch with the Chief Marshal, you can contact the Deputy Chief Marshal, Mark Cresswell, on macrutten@googlemail.com or 07941 025092. He may also be contacting some of you by phone over the next few days. Thanks for your assistance. Matthew Atkinson Clerk of the Course”
No prior experience is needed, and don’t worry you wont be expected to do anything that is beyond your experience, confidence or knowledge. If you do marshall, and were directed from this website, then please do tell the organisers that’s the case, and don’t forget to pop to our service van for refreshments as a thank you for your efforts!
